Who are you?

Dennis Harvey. Born 14/03/1937 Liverpool, England.
(Dennis has now retired, but we don't want to delete him from Harmony just yet - he is still dear to us.)

What brought you to yoga and how long have you been practising yoga?

A workmate lent me some books on hatha yoga and I discovered my teacher, Margrit Segesman, 1959-1960. I`ve been practising yoga for 45 years.

What has the practice of yoga brought to your life?

Health, flexibility, the importance of a sense of humour and tolerance to others, and a greater spiritual understanding of life and my part in it.

What made you decide to become a teacher and what aspects of teaching at Harmony do you most enjoy?

1. To give back to others the skills and advantages of yoga I`ve learned over the years.
2. I enjoy being part of a dedicated group of teachers and to see my students leaving relaxed and smiling after our class finishes.

What is the funniest/weirdest thing that`s happened or been said while you have been teaching yoga?

I recollect when my brother Ken and I were in class doing `crouching` leg exercises when my shorts ripped up the back!! We could hardly continue the exercises through laughing (I`m glad to say I had underwear on!).

Finally what`s your personal ambition or wish for your yoga practice in the future?

To continue teaching and being involved in yoga for as long as I can at the Harmony School of Yoga.
